First of, I have no idea if this is the proper forum or not, but since the wireless router section is split into boards for specific router's and it does not include mine---I am taking a guess.
Anyway, previously, I had a Belkin Router. And it worked flawlessly for anything and everything, every time I asked it to. However, after 2 years of use, it died on me and I had to buy a new router.
I bought the Netgear after an employee at Walmart suggested it. I am now wishing I hadn't.
Immediately upon installing the router, it refused to play nicely with my Blu-Ray player. Likewise, it has absolutely destroyed my bandwidth. And now I find that I can not play CoD Modern Warfare 3 either.
So, starting from the top:
I have a Toshiba BDX2150 Blu-Ray player wired to the router. It will allow the blu ray to connect and stream Netflix without issue. However, it also disconnects the blu ray at random. In a day's time, we have to power cycle our blu ray player, and reapply the wireless settings about 20-30 times in a day. This was not an issue before the Netgear router, and we have tested it with a friends router without issue.
Next, I am a customer with Time Warner Cable and should be getting up to 15Mbps rates. Which I do with any of the 3 other routers I have tried, as well as when wired directly to the modem. With the WNR2000v3 on the other hand, I am lucky to get 2-3Mbps---Most times, even less.
Furthermore, I can not play MW3...at all. Again, this was not an issue before the Netgear router, and has been tested since with other routers borrowed from friends.
I have googled the issues repeatedly, and have found no working resolution. Especially for issues with MW3, as most info is in regards to playing on Xbox, PS3 rather than PC, and is usually associated with some other ISP.
On the specific topic of MW3, all I have to say is: What does Netgear have against it? It doesn't seem to work for ANYONE who purchases a Netgear Router.
My router's current firmware is version 1.1.1.72
Anyone with any ideas would be appreciated. This is the first, and will be the last Netgear product I buy. I have used at least 10 different routers through my time with broadband. And this is the first to cause so many issues.
