ok, I wanted to make a private server of a game i like, and one of the things that was recommended was to have a static ip, i had no idea what that was, but i typed my ip into the address bar and got to the router page,
![]()
saw the option for static ip, and thought, hey that's what i need.....i click it and and i forget exactly what it said but ,it would not let me change the option, so no problem, i put the setting back to "get Dynamically isp" which was the exact way it was before, therefore i didn't change anything..and then it wanted to apply my changes...then i lose connection to the internet, I diagnose the connection it tells me "your computer is configured correctly but (my ip) isn't responding or doesn't exist" :(
after doing every common trouble shooting in the book, i diagnose again to have it read "the DNS server is not responding or exist" something along those words,so thought i could have hit the wrong button and i hit "use these DNS servers" if thats the case and how can i get back to that page if i can not connect to the internet with the router? I doubt I chose this option, but i dont see why it would try to connect to DNS otherwise
i tried to use the disc to reinstall it, but it tell me it detects im using a static ip.
so i connect my modem directly to my PC and i have internet,Noticed that my ip changed and i have been searching for hours to find a fix, I would appreciate any help or ideas, thank you
