We normally keep the main computers on a wired network but we needed to use one of them through a wireless network and used the adapter to do so. We now can not get the NIC to work. We have gone through controlled shutdowns and rebooting, we have disabled and enabled the card etc. We have got to the point that the NIC card shows that it is connected but to an "unknown" network rather than the home network it is actually on. This means that the computer can not longer get out to internet. Thinking it might be a microsoft problem I have tried forum fixes like turning off services etc. but we have not been able to make any progress. While recognising it might not be a netgear problem has anybody else gone through a similar problem and managed to solve it. Our next step will be to uninstall the adapter but this is not an ideal option even if it works as we will want to move the computers from wired to wireless and back again in the future.
