WN3000RP turning off WAN?

I bought the WN3000RP to work with my Actiontec GT724WGR. The setup was frustrating -- the extender works well with no security or WPS security, but the WPA2 securities seem to be incompatible (I'm guessing the Actiontec still has TKIP encryption on WPA2, while the WN3000RP wants AES).

The Actiontec is configured to keep the broadband connection continuous. I have never in the past experienced an issue with this mode. However, with the WN3000RP, the WAN connection shuts down after about 15 minutes of wireless inactivity. The modem does not attempt to reconnect, and also does not respond to attempts to log in. Powercycling causes the broadband to reconnect and everything is happy until 15 minutes after we use a WiFi device on the extended network. Interestingly, even though the WAN is down and the router isn't responding, the LAN works fine.

Anyone herad of this before? More importantly, is there a setting on the WN3000RP to stop the WAN disconnect requests to the router?

Thanks!
