Connecting a WGR614v7 to a Samsung UN55ES7100 Web Smart TV

My network is connected via Cat 5 Ethernet cable and it all works fine. My question regards the Samsung TV I wish to add. It specifies a CAT 6 STP* Type cable be used for the connection to my router. Can CAT 6 cable be connected to my router that current is connected throughout my network with CAT 5 cable? * (shielded twisted pair)

Is CAT 5 cable compatible with my current router (WGR614v.7)?
