Hi, this is my first time being here and I'm not sure if this is the right area for this thread, and I apologize in advance if its not, I looked all around and couldn't find anything else that seemed more suited for it.
I recently got a N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router, and after successfully hooking it up and getting an Internet connection, I wanted to connect to the 5 ghz channel.
I looked in my connections list for the 5 ghz channel, and it did not appear, but it did appear on my mom's iPad 3, she never connected to it though, so I still don't know if its functional or not.
I installed the program inSSIDer on my laptop, and when I click the 5 ghz tab, nothing appears on the graph, which makes me think it is not even running, is this right to think?
I've also been looking everywhere about 5 ghz connectivity problems and learned that certain network cards do not have the necessary supported type for it.
I checked mine through cmd, and my laptop has 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n, but no 802.11a.
I read that 802.11n works on both 2.4 and 5 ghz channel, but yet the 5 ghz channel does not appear under my wifi connections list.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I did search everywhere for a thread that answered this question, and I couldn't find any, and if there is one, sorry for the repeat :/
