I recently purchased a Netgear Dual-Band router (WNDR3700v3) because of the advertised improved range. However, I am having a problem obtaining a strong enough signal at our TV to be able to stream video using a service like NetFlix.
The router is on the 2nd floor at one end of the house while the TV is on the 1st floor at the other end of the house. The two items are approximately 35 feet apart and the signal has to go through two walls and a floor.
The signal at the TV is 2 bars (out of 5) on the 2.4 GHz band and 1 bar on the 5 GHz. I have been told the signal has to be at least 3 bars to be able to stream video.
Per an email from Netgear support, I tried various combination of channels. But the signal never improved.
I am beginning to think the issue is with the router itself. Can anyone tell me what the approximate range of this router is...both in the 2.4GHz and 5GHZ bands?
Does anyone have experience with the Netgear Dual-Band Range extender (WNP2500RP)? Do they really work?
Thank you.
