I upgraded my WPA824 to a WNDR3700 and am very pleased with the improved internet speed, as well as upload/download speeds to/from my NAS. However, now my kids can't find the printer on our network via Bonjour or Appletalk. The NAS connectivity works fine, as does the VOIP phone that's ethernet wired to the WNDR3700.
Configuration:
I regret that I already got rid of the WPA824, or I could check out how I had that configured and do the same with the WNDR3700 (when I bought the WPA824 Netgear still offered free phone setup support and they helped me set it up). I do recall having the IP set to 192.168.0.254 and connecting it to the GS108 via one of the LAN ports (not the Internet port). So I'm assuming I also had NAT disabled on the WPA824, but I see no option to disable NAT on the WNDR3700.
Now, before anyone tells me to disable NAT on my modem, my configuration likely won't allow for it due to how things are physically laid out. The WNDR3700 is wired up some distance from the modem and Netgear GS108 (ethernet switch) and the primary reason I have the WNDR3700 is to provide a good wireless signal to another part of the house where the kids' computers are. Secondly, it wires up the second VOIP phone.
Suggestions are very much appreciated.
Configuration:
- 10MB internet terminated to Motorola SBG6580 modem/router (wireless disabled, NAT enabled).
- SBG6580 ethernet port connected to Netgear GS108 switch.
- GS108 connects to multiple devices, including HP printer, Netgear ReadyNAS, VOIP phone, MacBook Pro, and WNDR3700.
- One WNDR3700 ethernet LAN port connects to a second-line VOIP phone. The wireless supports two Macs.
