It took awhile

But I am using the player now, enjoying its features, and I am not particularly interested in tweaking it further: it is doing the job I hired it for, and reliablity enough that I can just simply sit back and enjoy.

Yes, it does need to be reset every once in awhile. So does every other media player that I am aware of. Yes, it does have some bugs, but so does every other media player that I am aware of.

But it plays dvd and blu-ray iso's virtually perfectly, and that's what I got it for. I also particuarly like using the keyboard on the remote to search for music, and find myself using it is a music player, without having to access windows media player.

Don't care about video sreaming services: I have three or four other ways to access Netlix and Hulu.

And, yes, I wish that YouTube could be fixed if for no other reason that it displayed so beautifully when that feature was working, but that is not a dealbreaker.

I say the 550 is a unique media player, perhaps a niche product in that those who like it got exactly what they were looking for. It's main detractors seem to be those that need streaming services that are not provided in this product, and I can understand that.

But I am a happy camper.
