Internet Keeps Disconnecting

I have a brand new Netgear N900 Dual Band Gigabit Router, a DrayTek Vigor120 modem, IE, Windows 7, a good broadband ISP providing a constant 17 Mbps.
Problem: the Internet connection keeps dropping, every 2/3 days.
Has anyone any suggestions please?
