I have a WPN824N. It locks up regularly, and I started keeping a log 6 months ago. It regularly "locks up" between 230 and 245 hrs. That's about 10 days. When it locks up, the DNS stops working, and if I point a browser to the router, the web GUI never shows up and I get a Page Not Found error. Any current connections to the Internet continue working, for at least an hour or two. Pings to the router continue to work. To resolve the problem, I have to power-cycle the Router.
Since this is so repeatable, I opened a case with NetGear. I eventually received an RMA ticket, and so I sent my unit back. Now, after 10 days, the replacement router has also locked up.
I can't be the only person experiencing this. (But maybe I am one of the few to track it so carefully?)
Is anyone else seeing anything like this? If yes, what router model? This stinks to high heaven of some sort of software bug, but the online tech support folks are simply not equiped to deal with that possibility. (They tell me to do things like reprogram the firmware and vhange the MTU and DNS settings.)
Any help or comments will be greatly appreciated,
-Jim
