I am trying to set up a home theater pc. I have a pc connected to a TV about 40 feet away from the router (downstairs and 2 rooms away). I originally had a wireless G router and found out that wasn't powerful enough to do video.
So I bought a WNDR3700v3, set it up and voila the signal is even weaker than the linksys wireless G I was using before. The pc downstairs show 1 bar of connectivity. The Roku in the bedroom next door can't connect at all. The only thing that will connect is my iPhone when I'm sitting right next to the router.
Additionally, when I try to connect to the wireless only the 2.4 gHz network shows up - the 5 gHz network is not shown at all in the list of available networks.
So what's up? Did I just buy a lemon or is there some key configuration switch that I missed?
